CCAC Studio Visits by Andrea Petrillo

TASC Project Manager Andrea Petrillo and Executive Director Casey Droege recently did a series of studio visits for an upcoming acquisition for the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). Take a second to read about these visits, and learn more about our ongoing project at CCAC.

A lovely perk of the job of project management for creative projects is getting to build relationships with individual artists.

This month, Casey and I have been on a journey to meet with many of the artists we plan to purchase artworks from for CCACs new Workforces Development Training Center. This project is a multifaceted combination of collection curating, commissioning of new works, and restoring a collection of works from their archive.

Studio visits are a great way to step into the artists’ world and their influences. These visits are often intimate as many artists live and create within their homes. Seeing the details of their everyday life only scratches the surface of the many creative influences in their work over time. Many artists submitted works through our open call process last year and have continued to make countless works, and it's exciting to see what other processes or materials they're playing with.

We’re additionally working with a few artists to host community workshops, giving CCAC campus community a space to participate in the creation of some of the artworks that will be displayed in their new facility. We can’t wait to see what we make together.
